The collection consists of two photographic prints showing a tornado that touched down near Elmwood, Nebraska, on April 6, 1919, about 6:45 p.m. The photographs were taken at a distance of 25 miles by G. B. Pickwell.

Scope and Contents The Meriwether letters cover Captain Gilmer Meriwether’s voyage overseas to Australia and India. The 340th Bomb Group had arrived in North Africa by April, 1943, and apparently remained there during the whole period of the correspondence. Meriwether describes the voyage, the reactions of the Australians to U.S. troops, sandstorms and the end of the campaign in North Africa. This collection includes 4 folders, a map, and two German Army gasmasks in canisters. Contents of the folders include a proposed itinerary for a tour of American WWII Battlefields in Northern Europe, photographs, a volume of Invade Mecum No. 4, and a volume of First United States Army, Report of Operations 20 October 1943 to 1 August 1944, Annex No. 3 to 11, which contains lists of units, operations reports, graphs, and charts.

The collection consists of photographs, a newspaper clipping, and a typed reminiscence related to Harvey N. Lorenz’s time in the Army Specialized Training Program at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  He was in the ASTP from June 1943 to September 1944.

Hilda Raz's professional life as a writer, editor, and educator are represented in the collection materials. Correspondence and manuscripts comprise about half of the collection. The remainder relates primarily to Raz's work as an educator, including her work as a professor at UNL and as a lecturer at conferences and workshops. Throughout the collection, quotation marks indicate original folder titles, and italics are used for titles of works.

The photo postcards were produced by the Hispanic Society of America in the 1920s as curators traveled throughout Latin America, Portugal, and Spain.The images document places, culture, landmarks, industry, and daily life. Both rural and urban scenes are included. Each postcard contains brief information about the location, but none of the photographs are dated. Those taken in Spain were photographed by E.M. Newman.

The collection consists of Ivan Wood's photographs showing Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) projects in Nebraska. The photographs document the labor of the CCC, including erosion control, dam building, and terracing in Buffalo, Harlan, Johnson, and Pawnee counties, Nebraska, from 1933-1935. The photograph index is based on the descriptions written on the back of each photograph.
