The collection consists of records from the University President's Special Assistant for the Arts and includes information on humanities organizations, events, departments, conferences and councils at the University and throughout Nebraska.

The papers include correspondence, publications, research notes, reviews, translations, and manuscripts by Reino Virtanen. Most of the materials relate to French and Finnish literature.

The collection consists of notes, manuscripts, and speeches written by Simeon Hayes; his English translations of classical authors; and notes for lectures on the authority and history of the church.  Hayes' writings, many of which were speeches presented at local clubs, cover a wide range of topics including contemporary politics and society, arts, history, religion, and economics.
