Hispanic Society Latin America, Photographs

Scope and Contents

The photo postcards were produced by the Hispanic Society of America in the 1920s as curators traveled throughout Latin America, Portugal, and Spain.The images document places, culture, landmarks, industry, and daily life. Both rural and urban scenes are included. Each postcard contains brief information about the location, but none of the photographs are dated. Those taken in Spain were photographed by E.M. Newman.

The collection consists of Ivan Wood's photographs showing Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC) projects in Nebraska. The photographs document the labor of the CCC, including erosion control, dam building, and terracing in Buffalo, Harlan, Johnson, and Pawnee counties, Nebraska, from 1933-1935. The papers include correspondence regarding criminal cases that Reinhardt worked on as a consultant or that he researched, as well as correspondence with convicts. Included in the convict correspondence are letters from Charles Starkweather.
