Biographical / Historical

John Forster was born in 1812 at Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England, and is known for his biography titled: The Life of Charles Dickens. He attended Newcastle Grammar School and in 1828 entered University College in London. Forster wrote for The Examiner and became well known among literary circles during the 1830s. A close friend of Charles Dickens, he read early drafts and manuscripts of many of Dickens' works.
