E.J. Faulkner, Professional Papers

 Collection — Multiple Containers
Identifier: MS-0068

Scope and Contents

This collection contains the personal and professional papers of E.J. Faulkner, a leading Lincoln, Nebraska insurance executive.  The first two series are divided between personal and professional correspondence.  Personal papers include letters from family members, memorial and funeral notices, wedding announcements, and other items of a personal nature.  These sections date from the 1930s to the 1960s.  The earlier letters contain telling comments about reactions to Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s programs, the effects of the Great Depression on UNL, including references to student protest meetings over budget and salary cuts, and about the literary career of his sister, Virginia Faulkner.  The 1960s material references the Cold War, national politics, the beginnings of the protest movement against the war in Vietnam, and Senator Carl Curtis.
