Thomas L. Higgins, World War II Photographs

 Collection — Box: 001
Identifier: MS-0052

Scope and Contents

47th Bombardment Group. The photographs were taken during World War II. The photographer is believed to have been Thomas L. Higgins. The collection was purchased by Mr. Bernstien from the photographer’s son. The photographs follow the movements and actions of the 12th Air Force during World War II. The 12th began its actions in Northern Africa and shifted locations to participate in actions against hostile forces in Sicily, Italy, and Southern France. A variety of publications can give information on the 12th Air Force. The government documents collections contains Air Force Combat Unites of World War II. This two volume set includes information about the 47th Bombardment Group which appears to be the focal group of the collection. It also covers the 58th Fighter Squadron which apparently is included in a number of photographs. Another good source of potential information is the seven volume government document entitled The Army Air Forces in World War II. This Collection contains pictures of Franklin D. Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Marlene Dietrich and Benito Mussolini's corpse.
