Biographical / Historical
Russell G. Kendig served in the United States Army Air Corps. He trained at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to be a pilot in 1943. Near the end of his time in Nebraska, he transferred to Kansas for training as a bombadier. He was assigned to the 100th Bomb Group (also known as "The Bloody Hundredth") and stationed in England.
