The majority of the records are those collected by Miloslav Rechcígl as a founder and president of the SVU. There are copies of SVU newsletters, and publications. Biographical / Historical

The Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Sciences (SVU), based in Washington, D.C., is an international organization that focuses the development and history of Czech and Slovak resources and scholarship associated with the arts, culture, literature, and the sciences. SVU publishes a quarterly newsletter, SVU NEWS/ ZPRÁVY SVU, and KOSMAS, a semi-annual publication on literary and scholarly topics. Miloslav Rechcígl, is one of the founders and past-president of SVU. Along with his wife Eva Rechcígl, he edited several SVU membership directories. He is also author of Ten Years of the Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Sciences in America, Inc. published by Litera Printing Co. 1966. Rechcígl has been an advocate for Czech and Slovak culture throughout his career.

As a biochemist, he held appointments at the National Cancer Institute and the U.S. State Department, focusing on health and nutrition. He is a prolific author of articles, books, and pamphlets on agriculture, food science, and nutrition.
