Biographical / Historical

The Nebraska High School Press Association (NHSPA) included students from high schools in Lincoln, Omaha, and other high schools in Nebraska, such as Grand Island and North Platte. NHSPA oversaw the Silver Key contests that showcased winners in advertising, editing, newswriting, photograph, and work on yearbooks. These contests were renamed the Nebraska Journalism Championships. The association also held business meetings and workshops for its membership.

The Nebraska High School Press Association (NHSPA) operated under the supervision of an executive secretary from the University og Nebraska-Lincoln, College of Journalism and Mass Communications. For example, faculty members Gene Harding and Neale Copple both served as executive secretary.
