Scope and Contents

The collection consists of minutes, scholarship records, and history of the Ceres Club, a faculty women’s club. The records include minutes that outline the activities and financial information for the club. The Hospitality Committee reports include yearly summaries for select years and monthly reports for other years.

Biographical or Historical Information

According to the Ceres Club history, written by Rita Frolick, the club began in 1911 and is named after the Roman goddess of agriculture at its founding in 1911. The club sponsored social activities for the women faculty of the College of Agriculture. In order to support students, the Ceres Club provided a scholarship in Home Economics. The majority of social activities were teas, dinners, and Sunday suppers for students.
