Scope and Contents
The collection consists of writings and correspondence as well as materials related to Robert D. Scott's involvement as a longtime member and chair of the Athletic Board and to his work as director of the Pageant of Lincoln. Scott's speeches and papers cover topics such as teaching English classes, the place of a small college in society, and habit as a psychological phenomenon. Scott's book, “The Thumb of Knowledge: In Legends of Finn, Sigurd, and Taliesin Studies in Celtic and French Literature” and related financial agreement are included. "The Athletic Board, University of Nebraska: A detailed Review of its Historical Background, Origin, Development, Activities and Achievements, Covering Fifty Years of Intercollegiate Athletics, 1890-1940" and scripts and news clippings related to the Pageant of Lincoln are also found in the collection.
