Content Description

The records of the Rainbow Outreach GLBT Center documents the founding and operations of the organization in Omaha, Nebraska, circa 1996-2011. The collection includes board meeting minutes, founding documents, operations manuals, facility information, a local business directory, and other records. The collection also includes records (circa 1989-1996) documenting the activities of other Omaha organizations including GLSEN, PFLAG, and most notably ANGLE (Achieving New Gay and Lesbian Endeavors).

COLLECTION IS RESTRICTED UNTIL REVIEWED AND PROCESSED BY REPOSITORY STAFF. Custodial History

Jay Tremont and his husband George Broadway were on the board of the Rainbow Outreach Metro Omaha GLBT Community Center. The material received in July 2017 was in a storage unit along with the center’s library and other items after the center closed.

New material added 2017-12-11: Records were stored in the home of Jay Tremont and George Broadway since the Rainbow Outreach GLBT Center closed.

Separated Materials

The Rainbow Outreach GLBT Center’s library of over 2,000 books was also donated to the UNO Libraries’ Archives and Special Collections in 2017. Titles by LGBTQ+ authors or on LGBTQ+ topics were retained by the repository. Titles may be found by searching the library catalog.
