Helen Hawkins Heilman Collection
The collection includes two Gateway yearbooks from the University of Omaha, for the years 1926 and 1927, which were the property of student Helen Hawkins, a member of Pi Omega Pi. The 1926 volume is unmarked and in good condition. The 1927 volume has numerous pieces of ephemera from 1925 through 1927 pasted upon the pages, including event invitations, event programs, seating markers, holiday and birthday cards, and news clippings. Some of these items are printed, others handwritten. Many include their original envelopes, ribbons, or strings. Undated copies of the wedding announcement and obituary of Helen (Hawkins) Heilman, provided by her daughter Jan Hood, are included on a separate sheet.

Jan Hood's mother, Helen Hawkins Heilman (1908-1969?) was a student at the University of Omaha for two years, circa 1926-1927. In 2016, when going through the family archives, Jan Hood found the two OU yearbooks and offered to return them to the university. She made this gift in honor of Helen Hawkins Heilman.
