Clifford D. Kantz Papers
Scope and Contents
The Clifford D. Kantz papers are composed of the retired U.S. Air Force Major's reminiscences and documents related to his career in the U.S. Air Force, civilian life as a teacher, and subsequent retirement. The documents consist of scans and photocopies printed on Major Kantz’s personalized letterhead; many are annotated with handwritten notes and descriptions. Topics include Major Kantz’s squadron formation and flightpath as a paratrooper pilot for the D-Day Normandy Landings; orders for his continued education as a part of Operation Bootstrap and post-military Master of Arts; lists of international places stationed and visited, and a personal account of landing on Iwo Jima to observe Mount Suribachi.
