UNO Gateway Photograph Collection
Scope and Contents
The Gateway Photographs Collection is mostly prints and digital images created by photographers for use by the student newspaper. A small number of negatives and contact sheets are also found in the collection. Subjects of photographs include theater productions, athletics, campus events, and people on campus from approximately the 1970s to the 2010s. Most of the black and white photographs are sorted by general topic or identifying information such as basketball or by the first letter of the last name in the case of most photographs of people. The collection also includes a small number of promotional photographs received for films, bands, and similar. The digital images have not yet been reviewed.

Conditions Governing Access
The collection is open for research use. Manuscript collections and archival records may contain materials with sensitive or confidential information that is protected under federal or state right to privacy laws and regulations, the Nebraska Public Records Statutes (Neb. Rev. Stat. §§ 84-712 through 84-712.09), and other relevant regulations. Confidential material may include, but is not limited to, educational, medical, and personnel records. Researchers are advised that the disclosure of certain information pertaining to identifiable living individuals represented in this collection without the consent of those individuals may have legal ramifications (e.g., a cause of action under common law for invasion of privacy may arise if facts concerning an individual's private life are published that would be deemed highly offensive to a reasonable person) for which the University of Nebraska Omaha assumes no responsibility.

Collection has not yet been arranged and described. The preliminary arrangement of folders is: Box 1 A-C; Box 2 C-G People; Box 3 H-Miscellaneous; Box 4 Miscellaneous-Regents; Box 5 S-Volleyball; Box 6 W-Z.
Custodial History
Internal UNO transfer from Gateway offices to University Archives, arranged by Carol Buffington, who retired as the Manager of Student Publications at UNO in January 2015. Included in her duties, and perhaps her primary duty, was acting as a staff advisor to the Gateway student newspaper.

Accruals
It is anticipated that new photographs will be transferred from the Gateway to University Archives on a regular schedule.
