UNO Performing Arts Center Performance Recordings
Scope and Contents
The UNO Performing Arts Center Performance Recordings comprise over 550 audiocassette recordings of recitals and concerts performed at the Strauss Performing Arts Center at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, from circa 1978 until circa 2001. The facility was renamed to honor of the Willis A. and Janet S. Strauss in 1984. Many of the cassettes are labeled with the name of the performer (individual or group), instrument(s), date of performance, and list of pieces performed. Some cassettes are minimally labeled, ambiguously labeled, or unlabeled. It is believed that a small number of class lectures are included in the collection.
New material added 2015-08-20: Audio recordings and video recordings of musical performances at or by the Strauss Performing Arts Center, circa 1978-1995, including the Jazz Festival, tryouts, marching band, performances by individual students and faculty, UNO ensembles, Omaha Area Youth Orchestra, as well as performances by visiting musicians. Approximately 80% of the recordings include some identification. The format types include 11 3/4 inch videocassettes, 10 VHS tapes, 1 Sony videotape, 136 7" reel-to-reel audio tape recordings, and 47 10" reel-to-reel audio tape recordings.
