UNO Art Collection
Scope and Contents
The UNO Art Collection includes works of art created at, commissioned by, or collected by the University of Nebraska at Omaha and its predecessor the University of Omaha, from circa 1908 to the early 2000s. It includes painted portraits of university presidents, chancellors, officers, and others; artwork of university buildings, including conceptual art related to building construction; artwork formerly used as decorations in various campus buildings; caricatures; and more. Some paintings and drawings are framed or matted. Most of the works of art were transferred to Archives and Special Collections because they were damaged and can not be hung until repaired or because their original location was being renovated and redecorated and the repository serves as a temporary home until such time as a university-wide art collection policy, procedures, and storage is created.
This finding aid does not inlcude a complete inventory of all artwork hanging in the public areas of the Dr. C.C. and Mabel L. Criss Library, but some of the works listed in this finding aid may have subsequently been hung in the library.
