Bing Chen Papers
Scope and Contents
The Bing Chen Papers comprises materials related to Information Science and Technology at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, covering the period from about 1971 until about 1996, with the majority of content concentrated in 1994 through 1995. This collection is closed to researchers. However, much of the content is duplicated in the Richard Flynn Information Science and Technology Collection and Dale Krane Engineering Collection, both of which are open without restrictions.
New material added 2017-05-22: This collection (circa 1995-2013) includes general academic and departmental materials gathered by Professor Bing Chen. Some of these materials concern the attempt during the mid to late 1990s to establish a separate UNO College of Engineering.

The collection is closed until after the deaths of both Bing Chen and Del Weber, by deed of gift. Consult Archives & Special Collections staff for assistance. Manuscript collections and archival records may contain materials with sensitive or confidential information that is protected under federal or state right to privacy laws and regulations, the Nebraska Public Records Statutes (Neb. Rev. Stat. §§ 84-712 through 84-712.09), and other relevant regulations. Confidential material may include, but is not limited to, educational, medical, and personnel records. Donated to the Criss Library with restrictions by Bing Chen prior to 2014. Further accession details are incomplete or absent.
New material added 2017-05-22: Professor Bing Chen gathered these materials as Professor of UNL Electrical & Computer Engineering—located at the Pewter Kiewit Institute on the Omaha campus. He transferred them to University Archives with restrictions in May 2017.
