UN-L Budget Hearings Collection
Scope and Contents
The UN-L Budget Hearings Collection contains material related to the October 1991 budget hearings at the University of Nebraska--Lincoln. The collection includes audio recordings of the hearings on cassette tape and loose reports, statements, correspondence, and other papers related to the budget. This collection has not yet been organized. In 1991, during a time of economic recession, Nebraska Governor Ben Nelson's budget granted significantly less funding than the University of Nebraska Board of Regents had requested, resulting in cut programs, reduced staff, reduced services, and increased tuition across the NU system. The University of Nebraska--Lincoln received some criticism for its handling of the budget cuts, as did other universities in the system.
