ABC Breakfast Lecture Series Collection
Scope and Contents
The ABC Breakfast Series comprises the print, audio, and video records of a lecture series organized by the University of Nebraska at Omaha, which ran from 1975 until 2006. At 31 seasons, it was among the longest-running speaker series in the United States. The ABC (Academy, Business, and Community) Breakfast Series brought in national-caliber speakers representing a variety of professional fields to Omaha for ticketed events held at hotels and convention centers. The number of speakers each year averaged five. A sampling of the speakers includes U.S. Supreme Court Justice William H. Rehnquist (1976), Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm (1977), actor Edward James Olmos (1994), consumer advocate Ralph Nader (1998), and human rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. III (2006). The collection includes publicity information, news clippings, photographs, and an incomplete selection of audio and video recordings in audiotape, CD, and VHS formats.
