Scope and Contents
The UNO University Religious Center Collection includes materials related to establishing a Protestant ministry for students at UNO's predecessor the Municipal University of Omaha (circa 1959-1965); activities at the University Religious Center (URC) facility near the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) campus (1970-2001); and United Christian Ministries in Higher Education (UCMHE) activities on UNO campus (until about 2008). The collection includes correspondence related to establishing a ministry on campus (1959-1965); memorandums; handwritten notes; minutes of the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Westminster Foundation Board, Student Work Committee, and Campus Ministry Department (1961-1963); Campus Ministry information, reports, history, and finances; directories; event programs, flyers, and invitations; newspaper advertisements and articles; guides; publications; and photographic prints, slides, and negatives. Materials related to the Omaha Area Council of Churches and the United Christian Ministries in Higher Education are included.
Most of the materials in the collection have been arranged into folders according to topic, and these materials have been described to the folder level, except for one folder of more recent materials predominantly related to United Christian Ministries in Higher Education , circa 2005-2008, which has been added to the end of the Correspondence and Records series. The UCMHE print records in this folder include an assortment of bylaws, financial records, board meeting minutes, fund raising information, plans, brochures, correspondence, and more. This folder also includes one home-recorded DVD documenting a UNO student trip to Mississippi in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Processing Information
Prior to 2006, University Religious Center materials were incorporated into the University Archives File Cabinet Collection in a file structure created by Cynthia Taylor, Archives Assistant, 1980-2012. Materials in the file cabinets were originally filed under the heading UNITED CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES IN HIGHER EDUCATION, with various subheadings. Sometime in 2006, Criss Library staff removed these and other folders related to Christian ministry on campus from the file cabinet and placed them in a separate boxed collection named University Religious Center. At that time, the file structure of these materials was revised, and the current arrangement no longer resembles the arrangement from the file cabinets. In 2015, amongst materials queued for filing in the file cabinet, a one-inch-thick folder was found, labeled Campus Ministries but containing predominantly materials from the United Christian Ministries in Higher Education. This folder had never been integrated into the file cabinet collection and its contents appeared to be in their original order, although this was impossible to confirm conclusively, given the ambiguous origin of the folder. Angela Kroeger, Archives and Special Collections Associate, relabeled this folder United Christian Ministries in Higher Education 2005-2007 to more specifically reflect its contents, and then placed the folder at the end of the Correspondence and Records series of the UNO University Religious Center Collection. The contents of this folder have not yet been further arranged or described.
