Processing Information

Prior to 2006, University Religious Center materials were incorporated into the University Archives File Cabinet Collection in a file structure created by Cynthia Taylor, Archives Assistant, 1980-2012. Materials in the file cabinets were originally filed under the heading UNITED CHRISTIAN MINISTRIES IN HIGHER EDUCATION, with various subheadings. Sometime in 2006, Criss Library staff removed these and other folders related to Christian ministry on campus from the file cabinet and placed them in a separate boxed collection named University Religious Center. At that time, the file structure of these materials was revised, and the current arrangement no longer resembles the arrangement from the file cabinets. In 2015, amongst materials queued for filing in the file cabinet, a one-inch-thick folder was found, labeled Campus Ministries but containing predominantly materials from the United Christian Ministries in Higher Education. This folder had never been integrated into the file cabinet collection and its contents appeared to be in their original order, although this was impossible to confirm conclusively, given the ambiguous origin of the folder. Angela Kroeger, Archives and Special Collections Associate, relabeled this folder United Christian Ministries in Higher Education 2005-2007 to more specifically reflect its contents, and then placed the folder at the end of the Correspondence and Records series of the UNO University Religious Center Collection. The contents of this folder have not yet been further arranged or described.
