UNO Personnel Records
Scope and Contents
The UNO Personnel Records originated with the University of Nebraska at Omaha Human Resources Office and its predecessors (including the Office of Personnel Services) and cover the period from approximately 1939 until approximately 2001. The paper records include the faculty personnel books (bound volumes containing directories, typed lists, and handwritten notes, 1948-1971); faculty-staff personnel letters and academic-administrative employment memorandums (1967-1969); faculty and staff handbooks and manuals (1941-circa 1997); employee training and orientation handbooks (1941-1955); information on services for students with disabilities (1995); University-Wide Benefits Committee records (1981-1987); job classification descriptions (1979); TIAA-CREF retirement plan information (1987); personnel comprehensive facilities plan (1983); summer personnel appointments (1976); consultant's report on Personnel Organization and Administrative Procedures (1978); faculty/staff training course catalogs (1998/1999-2000/2001); employee attitude survey report (1973); Career Development Summer Institute records (1982); FTE employee changes (1974/1975-1980/1981); UNO Personal Plan Record (1974); student employment manuals (1982-1995); retirement plan information (1939-1966); affirmative action plan/program records (1980/1981-1998/1999); and miscellaneous other reports.

Language of Materials
Conditions Governing Access
The collection is open for research use. Manuscript collections and archival records may contain materials with sensitive or confidential information that is protected under federal or state right to privacy laws and regulations, the Nebraska Public Records Statutes (Neb. Rev. Stat. §§ 84-712 through 84-712.09), and other relevant regulations. Confidential material may include, but is not limited to, educational, medical, and personnel records. Researchers are advised that the disclosure of certain information pertaining to identifiable living individuals represented in this collection without the consent of those individuals may have legal ramifications (e.g., a cause of action under common law for invasion of privacy may arise if facts concerning an individual's private life are published that would be deemed highly offensive to a reasonable person) for which the University of Nebraska Omaha assumes no responsibility.

Securing permission to publish or use material is the responsibility of the researcher. Affirmative Action Plans have been cataloged and may be found by searching the library catalog.
Accession records are incomplete or absent. Materials have been transferred to University Archives by various UNO Human Resources staff members before 2014.
