UNO Newsletter Collection

 Collection
Identifier: UNO-0023

Scope and Contents

The UNO Newsletter Collection comprises the official newsletters sent to faculty and staff of the University of Nebraska at Omaha and its predecessor the Municipal University of Omaha, covering the period from 1948 until 2008.

Print newsletters have been bound into volumes. Bound volumes include:

  • That You May Know, published monthly from November 1948 until January 1965
  • Faculty Staff Bulletin, published weekly from September 24, 1965, until September 29, 1972
  • Weekly Communicator, published weekly from October 6, 1972, until October 1, 1984
  • This Week at UNO, published weekly from October 8, 1984, until October 21, 1985
  • This Week, published weekly from October 28, 1985, until July 27, 1987
  • Notes, published weekly from August 3, 1987, until August 9, 2004.
No print newsletters for UNO faculty and staff have been published since the cessation of Notes.

UNO published eNotes, an electronic newsletter for faculty and staff, Monday through Friday, from December 3, 1998, until January 13, 2014, when the publication was discontinued and replaced by another online newsletter, The Maverick Daily. eNotes (sometimes rendered eNOTES or E-NOTES) was originally distributed to UNO faculty and staff via email until November 6, 2000, when the first issue was published on the web. The printed archive of eNotes covers the period from December 3, 1998 until April 10, 2008.

The UNO Newsletter Collection also includes a small selection of April Fool newsletters, published on April 1 from 1986 until 1994. The issues for 1986-1987 are titled This Weak, and the issues for 1988-1994 are titled Nuts. These are parodies in style and format of This Week and Notes, containing satirical misinformation about UNO programs, faculty, and staff.
