Scope and Contents

This collection includes photographs from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and its predecessors, the Municipal University of Omaha and the University of Omaha, dating from the institution's founding in 1908 to the present. Photographs originated from many OU or UNO colleges, schools, departments, offices, committees, campus organizations, faculty, staff, students, and alumni. Materials include black and white and color photographs of various sizes, some mounted or framed; slides; and negatives. Images depict OU or UNO students, faculty, staff, presidents, chancellors, ambassadors, alumni, athletic teams, events, buildings, and aerial views of campus. The series of boxed photographs is divided into five categories: administration, campus scenes, ceremonies & events, sports, and student life.

The collection is open for research use. Manuscript collections and archival records may contain materials with sensitive or confidential information that is protected under federal or state right to privacy laws and regulations, the Nebraska Public Records Statutes (Neb. Rev. Stat. §§ 84-712 through 84-712.09), and other relevant regulations. Confidential material may include, but is not limited to, educational, medical, and personnel records. Researchers are advised that the disclosure of certain information pertaining to identifiable living individuals represented in this collection without the consent of those individuals may have legal ramifications (e.g., a cause of action under common law for invasion of privacy may arise if facts concerning an individual's private life are published that would be deemed highly offensive to a reasonable person) for which the University of Nebraska Omaha assumes no responsibility.

Custodial History

Accession records are incomplete or absent. The materials originated with a diverse range of UNO offices, departments, and organizations and arrived in University Archives via a variety of channels.
