Scope and Contents

The Governance series contains UFMCC Mid Central conference by-laws, a letter and questionnaire evaluating the inclusion of women in MCC churches, the charter to found a Omaha branch of MCC, a filled out and a blank membership application, church service questionnaire filled out by a church member, monthly report for January of an unknown year, board meeting minutes from 1974, various correspondence relating to church business, copies of the 1983 proposed floorplan, a listing document by NP Dodge Real Estate, appraisal of the property at 819 and 823 South 22nd St. in Omaha, a street map of the lot, and a handwritten letter from 1986 offering to purchase the church lots, copies of handouts containing agendas, minutes, notes, and reports prepared for quarterly congregational meetings, a master plan created by the Metropolitan Community Church Building Committee and Avant Architects Inc., and four reports that summarize end of year accomplishments and goals for the ministry.

Related to Governance are three folders on Garold Storm and Fredrick Zydek. They consist of programs and sermons from the early 1960s when Storm was a Methodist pastor in Pleasant Dale, NE, and handwritten and typewritten letters to and from Fredrick Zydek. Of note are correspondence related to the foundation of MCC Omaha and Zydek’s travels between church groups in Seattle, Omaha, and Lincoln, correspondence and documents related to Zydek’s 1973 start with MCC and his 1975 resignation. Included are the list of formal charges against Zydek from MCC Omaha and Zydek’s response to these charges, and confirmation of the baptism of Zydek in 1959 at Lincoln Air Force Base. There are two handwritten letters expressing frustration at the church use of a basement. Letter from Zydek to Rev. Wallace Lancaster asking to be removed from any mailing lists.
