Scope and Contents

The second volume covers the period circa 2006-2009 and contains course materials, syllabi, student assignments, poems about the Holocaust written by students, thank you notes from students, news articles, correspondence, financial records, meeting minutes, fundraising brochures, photographs, and reports. Most of the documents are original and a few are reproductions.

Included are records of the National Holocaust Endowment Fund, the Heartland Holocaust Educational Fund, and various educational programs at the University of Nebraska (campuses in Lincoln, Omaha, and Kearney), Creighton University, and Wayne State College. Also included is information about the book and DVD Doorway to Freedom: The Story of David Kaufmann-Merchant-Benefactor-Rescuer, which was distributed to school libraries by the Fund circa 2009; information about a student trip to the Nebraska Holocaust Memorial at the Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln in May 2009; and a grant application from the Heartland Holocaust Educational Fund to the Shirley and Leonard Goldstein Supporting Foundation for funding college-level Holocaust courses at UNL, UNO, UNK, Creighton University, and Wayne State College (2009).

The collection is open for research use. Manuscript collections and archival records may contain materials with sensitive or confidential information that is protected under federal or state right to privacy laws and regulations, the Nebraska Public Records Statutes (Neb. Rev. Stat. §§ 84-712 through 84-712.09), and other relevant regulations. Confidential material may include, but is not limited to, educational, medical, and personnel records. Researchers are advised that the disclosure of certain information pertaining to identifiable living individuals represented in this collection without the consent of those individuals may have legal ramifications (e.g., a cause of action under common law for invasion of privacy may arise if facts concerning an individual's private life are published that would be deemed highly offensive to a reasonable person) for which the University of Nebraska Omaha assumes no responsibility.

Conditions Governing Use

The family has opted to retain copyright.

Any request for a non-educational or commercial usage of the Donated Materials shall be submitted in writing to the Donors and shall require the written approval of the majority of the Donors or any successor to a Donor appointed by the Donor. In the event that any of the Donors or their successors shall fail to appoint a successor, then any request for a non-educational or commercial usage shall require the majority consent of the remaining Donors or their successors.
