Scope and Contents
The first volume covers the period circa 1966-2006 and contains information on the Frances and Sam Fried Holocaust and Genocide Education Fund, including printouts from the Fund website, correspondence, meeting agendas, meeting minutes, news clippings, press releases, legal documents, speech transcripts, strategic planning documents, financial reports, fundraising forms and fliers, reports, event programs, course syllabi, student papers on the lessons of the Holocaust, thank you notes from students, and other records related to the foundation, administration, and use of the fund. Some of the documents are original and some are reproductions.
These document not only the establishment and operation of the Fund, but numerous educational efforts prior to the creation of the fund, including speaking engagements at a variety of colleges, public schools, and organizations. Also included are meeting agendas and minutes of the Six Million Lights Education Fund Advisory Committee; records of events sponsored by the Fund; records of the Institute for Holocaust Education; and records of specific courses taught.

The collection is open for research use. Manuscript collections and archival records may contain materials with sensitive or confidential information that is protected under federal or state right to privacy laws and regulations, the Nebraska Public Records Statutes (Neb. Rev. Stat. §§ 84-712 through 84-712.09), and other relevant regulations. Confidential material may include, but is not limited to, educational, medical, and personnel records. Researchers are advised that the disclosure of certain information pertaining to identifiable living individuals represented in this collection without the consent of those individuals may have legal ramifications (e.g., a cause of action under common law for invasion of privacy may arise if facts concerning an individual's private life are published that would be deemed highly offensive to a reasonable person) for which the University of Nebraska Omaha assumes no responsibility.

The family has opted to retain copyright.
Any request for a non-educational or commercial usage of the Donated Materials shall be submitted in writing to the Donors and shall require the written approval of the majority of the Donors or any successor to a Donor appointed by the Donor. In the event that any of the Donors or their successors shall fail to appoint a successor, then any request for a non-educational or commercial usage shall require the majority consent of the remaining Donors or their successors.

Physical Description
4.5-inch-thick expanding two-post binder with black fabric cover and title page created by Sam Fried. Each item within is encapsulated in an 8.5"" x 11"" plastic sleeve.
There is a note tucked in the front pocket of the binder, referring to a CD and book which are missing from this collection.
Caution: The screw on the lower post of this two-post binder is apparently stripped or damaged, and is unable to be properly secured. Use caution when turning the pages.
