Scope and Contents
The oral history interview with William J. Riedman was conducted by UNO student Mary Lyons on April 29, 1977. Riedman was the lawyer for Victor Robinson and he discussed the lawsuit against the Omaha Tribal Council. The lawsuit centered around the election of 1974. Reidman discussed the issues of the case, tribal election rules, the federal government and the Bureau of Indian Affairs involvement in the case, and how the case ended. He also mentioned the link between the Indian Civil Rights Bill and Native Americans' ability to file lawsuits.
