Scope and Contents

Diamond Jubilee is a series of 12 interviews produced in 1983-1984 as part of the T.V. Classroom television series, in honor of UNO's 75th anniversary celebration events, collectively termed the UNO Diamond Jubilee. The first interview features UNO Chancellor Del Weber. The next ten episodes focus on the deans of each college, the library, the Alumni Association, and Educational and Student Services. The final episode focuses on the future of the university through interviews with two prominent students.

The collection is open for research use. Manuscript collections and archival records may contain materials with sensitive or confidential information that is protected under federal or state right to privacy laws and regulations, the Nebraska Public Records Statutes (Neb. Rev. Stat. §§ 84-712 through 84-712.09), and other relevant regulations. Confidential material may include, but is not limited to, educational, medical, and personnel records. Researchers are advised that the disclosure of certain information pertaining to identifiable living individuals represented in this collection without the consent of those individuals may have legal ramifications (e.g., a cause of action under common law for invasion of privacy may arise if facts concerning an individual's private life are published that would be deemed highly offensive to a reasonable person) for which the University of Nebraska Omaha assumes no responsibility.

Conditions Governing Use

Users are required to view the interviews available online. Due to their fragile nature, the original videotapes may not be viewed in Archives & Special Collections.

Existence and Location of Copies

All Diamond Jubilee videos were digitized from their original magnetic media formats to DVD and other electronic format. All interviews are cataloged at the item level by interviewee and searchable in the library catalog. A link is provided from the bibliographic record to a streaming copy of the interview. The recordings are hosted by the library. For physical copies, the original U-Matic tapes and VHS copies are together in Archives & Special Collections.
