Biography

Kirk E. Naylor joined the faculty of the University of Omaha in 1960 as Dean of Administration. In 1967, he became President of the university, and he presided over the merger of the Municipal University of Omaha with the University of Nebraska System in 1968. He served as the first Chancellor of the University of Nebraska at Omaha until his replacement during the summer of 1971, after which he returned to teaching as a Professor of Educational Administration at UNO until his retirement in 1981.

Kirk Naylor graduated from McPherson College in McPherson, KS, and received an Ed.D. (1952) from the University of Kansas. In 1952, he became Professor of Education at Fort Hays (KS) State College and later moved to the same position at Southwestern Oklahoma State College in Weatherford, OK. In 1960, Kirk Naylor arrived at OU as Professor of Education and Dean of Administration.
