Biography

Ronald W. Roskens (born in 1932) served at Kent State University (1959-1972), progressing through the ranks of Associate Professor of Special Education, Vice President for Administration, and finally Executive Vice President and Professor of Educational Administration. He served as Professor of Educational Administration and later Chancellor of the University of Nebraska at Omaha (1972-1977), and then President of the University of Nebraska System (1977-1989). After leaving the university, he served as Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development (1990-1992), President of Action International (1992-1995), and President of Global Connections, Inc. (beginning in 1996).

A native of Spencer, IA, Ronald Roskens received B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University of Northern Iowa and a Ph.D. (1958) from the University of Iowa.

Scope and Contents

The King of Ak-Sar-Ben Goblet Collection consists of four silver goblets awarded to University of Omaha Presidents and University of Nebraska at Omaha Chancellors by the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben. Philip Milo Bail received two in 1955 and 1974, Ronald W. Roskens received one in 1980, and Delbert D. Weber received one in 1990.

A signed football addressed to UNO Chancellor Ronald Roskens from the 1973 football team with a record of 7-2-1. One quarter of the football was painted and is cracking. Discoloration likely from water damage is visible on the ball. The signatures are at varying levels of fading based on the ink of the pens used to sign the ball and their location on the ball. It is a Rawlings brand football.
