Hendricks, Shelton
Biography
Dr. Shelton Hendricks was as University of Nebraska at Omaha Professor of Psychology (1969-2015) and Dean of Arts & Sciences (2001-2007). Additionally, he served as Chair of the Department of Psychology (1976-1980), President of the Faculty Senate (1997-1999), and Dean of Graduate Studies and Associate Vice Chancellor for Research for UNO (2000-2001). He established the first doctoral program at UNO, the Ph.D. in Psychology, which began as a joint program with UNL. He passed away on August 22, 2016.
Professor Hendricks received the B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. (1967) from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA. In addition to his work as professor and chair of the UNO Psychology Department, Hendricks served as University of Nebraska Medical Center Professor of Psychiatry, UNO Associate Vice-Chancellor for Research, and UNO Dean for Graduate Studies. As chair of Psychology, Professor Hendricks developed the first Ph.D. program at UNO (Industrial/Organizational Psychology). Before his death in 2016, he established the Shelton Hendricks Neuroscience Fund at the University of Nebraska Foundation to benefit future students.

Two email messages. The first is organizing a committee meeting among University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) faculty and staff to discuss LGBTQIA+ issues and topics that relate to the university such as partner benefits, diversity, and discrimination. The second message is a memo to add the matter to an upcoming Executive Cabinet meeting, presumably of the UNO Faculty Senate. These printouts of emails were removed from an unidentified UNO Faculty Senate agenda (attachment 20).

The collection of Shelton Hendricks, Ph.D, includes copies of his published articles, material related to honors received by Hendricks from the University of Nebraska at Omaha such as the Order of the Tower at the 2005 commencement ceremony, material from his college years at Tulane including report cards and commencement programs, and copies of Hendricks' M.S. thesis and Ph.D. dissertation.
