Biography

The Rev. Darrel Berg was born on November 14, 1920 in Iowa. He married Ruth Sanborn in 1942, and they ministered together until her death in 1997. He married Mieko Hayes in 2001 and they later divorced. Berg was a minister of the United Methodist Church from 1951 until his retirement in 1986. He continued to work in ministry in Australia, New Zealand, Iowa, and as the campus minister at the University of Nebraska at Omaha in the early 1990s.

In 2003, the Rev. Darrel Berg preached a series of sermons about women of the Bible at Guemes Island Church in Anacortes, Washington. Berg's papers includes copies of these sermons, the booklet Bible Women, Their Men, Their Times, Our Times into which some of these sermons were compiled, and the 2005 sermon "A Nebraska Travelogue" about pressure on the Ogallala aquifer in Nebraska, water issues, and environmentalism.
