John Flocken (1940-2009) was a University of Nebraska at Omaha Professor of Physics (1969-2003) and Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences (1996-2001). He was born in Sioux Falls, SD. He graduated from Washington high school in 1957 and earned a B.S. (1956) in chemistry from South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD, and an M.S. (1964) and Ph.D. in physics from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
