Biography

John Victor "Vic" Blackwell was a University of Nebraska at Omaha Professor of Art (1958-1985). Professor Blackwell received a B.A. (1947) from James Milliken University, in Decatur, IL, and M.A. (1948), M.F.A. (1949), and Ph.D (1957) degrees from the University of Iowa. Blackwell served as Interim UNO Chancellor in 1971 and Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences during 1971-72 and 1973-74. Prior to his arrival at UNO Professor Blackwell taught at Ball State University in Muncie, IN.

Framed painting "CQ" by Professor John V. Blackwell presented by the Alumni Association on October 11, 1963 in honor of the service of Everett Hosman, Dean and Professor Emeritus of the College of Adult Education. Blackwell was a professor of Art and Art History and Dean of Arts and Sciences. 33 x 52 x 1.5", Oil. Abstract with pastel and neutral colors. Frame worn, backing paper ripping. Likely requires repair before painting can be rehung.
