Biography

Born in Arlington, Nebraska, November 12, 1915, Wesley C. Meierhenry earned his MA and PhD from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln before beginning a lifelong career in education. From 1946-1957 Meierhenry was a professor of School Administration and History and Philosophy of Education at UNL. He was coordinator of the Teacher Placement Division at UNL from 1952-1958 and director of the Advanced Professional Division, UNL Teachers College, 1958-1968. Meierhenry served as chair and professor of the Department of Adult and Continuing Education and professor of Educational Administration from 1968 to 1984. Throughout his career, he worked as a visiting instructor at universities in the United States and South America. Meierhenry was active in international professional organizations and served as both a member and consultant for numerous educational associations, many of which focused on the use of media in instruction.
