Biography
Oscar Helmuth Werner, born January 1, 1888 in Westpoint, Nebraska, held degrees from Central Wesleyan University, Northwestern, Nebraska and Columbia University. A well-known and respected scholar, he was considered an authority on foreign languages and the philosophy of education. In 1949 Werner was named chairman of the University of Nebraska's Department of History and Principles of Education. He retired in 1956.
