Jenkins, Myron Bonnie, SR., 1884-1965



Myron B. Jenkins was born the son of Cornelius F. and Hattie Jenkins, April 27, 1884 at Wilsonville in Furnas County, Nebraska. It is not known at what time the family moved to Lincoln, but Myron received his high school and college education at Union College, 1898-1910, and resided in College View. His father was a prominent College View physician and the proprietor of the Rural Health Home. His brother Wilbur and sister, Gertrude were also educated at Union College. He has been Dept. Manager of Woods Brothers Nurseries, 1917-1920, Travel Agent for International harvester Co., under George Branch, 1920-1923; a salesman for F. A. Roehl Nash Company, 1923-29; District manager and State Manager of the Ill. bankers Life Assurance Co., 1930-35.

From 1936-ca43 he served as Director of Forestry Survey and Research at the University of Nebraska. His wife died between 1942-47 and we loose track of him. He married Bernice M Burke of Denver, Colorado in 1950, and since then resided in Fremont, Nebraska and was associated with the Plumfield Nurseries until his death, May 24, 1965. His son, a graduate of the University of Nebraska, Myron B., Jr., resides in Austin, Texas and his wife Bernice, in Fremont, Nebraska.
