Mignon Eberhart was born July 6, 1899 in Lincoln, Nebraska. She attended Nebraska Wesleyan University until 1923, and married Allan C. Eberhart, a civil engineer. A well-known name in the world of mystery writers, she published her first novel, The Patient in Room 18, in 1929. Over her career she wrote around 50 novels as well as a number of short stories, such as the newspaper series included in this collection.
