Biography
Alan Nielson attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and based the research for his thesis on H. Alice Howell, who served as an instructor of drama and elocution at UNL from 1901 to 1940. Howell became on of the first women from Nebraska to enter the Red Cross service during WWI, when she also served as the secretary of the British War Relief. At UNL, Howell organized and directed the University Players.
