Spire, Elaine P.



Elaine P. (Philips) Spire was a philanthropist, volunteer, and community leader. She had been involved with the Mayor's Commission on Human Rights, the Nebraska Humanities Foundation, the Appleseed Foundation, the Nebraska State Museum, the University of Nebraska--Lincoln Sage Program, the UNL Faculty Women's Club, the Heritage League, the Nebraska Legislative League, the Lincoln Legal Auxiliary, and other organizations. In 2002, she received the Hubert Locke Community Service Award from the UNO College of Public Affairs and Community Service. She was married to the late Robert M. Spire and they had three daughters: Ruth, Louise, and Jessie. Spire died on March 12, 2022.
