Biography
Maverick Productions is the student programming board of the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Membership consists of about twenty undergraduate students. The organization's mission is to provide social, educational, entertainment, leadership, governance, recreational, and other opportunities for student involvement. Events organized by MavPro include free giveaways, free food, film screenings, comedians, musicians, magicians, and other interactive events of interest to UNO students.
Along with Student Government and the Gateway newspaper, it is one of only three student organizations to be supported by student fees.
Prior to May 31, 2008, MavPro was known as the Student Programming Organization (SPO). SPO was established in 1968/1969, just after the Municipal University of Omaha merged with the University of Nebraska system to become the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Prior to the merger, SPO's predecessor organization at OU was the Student Union Board (SUB). SUB was a non-chartered organization of students who assisted the Director of the Student Center in the planning of events and programs at the Municipal University of Omaha in the 1960s.
