Biography

The Office of International Programs (OIP) is an office under Academic Affairs at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. As of 2021, OIP includes International Student Advising, Education Abroad, Intensive Language programming (English) including Intensive Language UNO (ILUNO) and International Professional Development (IPD), the Center for Afghanistan Studies, and a variety of other specialilzed programs for international students.

Prior to 2015, the office was named International Studies and Programs (IS&P). IS&P was established circa 1974 under Dr. Thomas Gouttierre. By the 2010s, IS&P handled international admissions, advising of international students, study abroad programs, the International Studies major, ILUNO Intensive English (ESL) program, International Professional Development (IPD), the Center for Afghanistan Studies, the Bethsaida Biblical Archaeology project, conferences focused on international issues, and UNO's global partnerships.

After longtime Dean Thomas Gouttierre retired in 2015, International Studies and Programs was reorganized into the Office of International Programs. At that time, the International Studies major was moved to the College of Arts and Sciences.

Scope and Contents

This collection is primarily correspondence, photographs, and publicity materials relating to ILUNO students within UNO International Studies and Programs. Two photo albums and a few VHS tapes document social activities for UNO ILUNO students.

Scope and Contents

The International Programs Review Committee was charged with the purpose of reviewing the alignment of the Office of International Programs with the overall campus academic mission.
