The Department of English dates back to the University of Omaha (1908-1930) and its successor the Municipal University of Omaha (1931-1968), which merged into the University of Nebraska system in 1968.

Scope and Contents The UNO Department of English Creative Writing Publications include Cardinal Short Stories and a complete run of Grain of Sand. Cardinal Short Stories was a single volume published in June 1932 by members of the class in short story writing at the Municipal University of Omaha, taught by Hugh Robert Orr.
