Biography
The University of Nebraska at Omaha Department of Sociology and Anthropology is an academic department dedicated to the scientific study of human relationships and social systems. It began in or before 1911 as a component of the University of Omaha Political and Social Science Department. In or around 1915, it was separated into the Department of Sociology. When the University of Omaha became the Municipal University of Omaha in 1931, the department became the Department of Sociology and Social Work, until about 1938 when it reverted to the Department of Sociology. This name persisted through the 1968 merger of the Municipal University of Omaha with the University of Nebraska system to form the University of Nebraska at Omaha. In 2000, the department was renamed the Department of Sociology and Anthropology (occasionally rendered as the Department of Sociology/Anthropology).
